corridor of doors from which sad people wail their laments, and hints of the macabre peer from the shadows)

(Kelly is still in his hospital bed / medical bondage, recovering from surgery. Chronic Pain, Christopher,
and a nurse are present. She is explaining the plan for recovery while Christopher looks optimistic.)
ANNOYING MACHINES: EEP EEP EEP
NURSE: We want to stay ahead of your pain, OK? Do not wait until you're already in bad pain before you get meds.
CHRISTOPHER: Sweet.
KELLY: Sounds good.
ANNOYING MACHINES: FFSH GASHUNK

(Later we see the nurse flying by like a cactuar while Kelly looks beleaguered and Pain gloats.)
BOX WITH ARROW POINTING TO NURSE: Missing scheduled meds by hours!
ANNOYING MACHINES: EEP EEP EEP
NURSE'S SOUND EFFECT: ZING
CHRONIC PAIN: Heh
ANNOYING MACHINES: FFSH GASHUNK

(At night we see a different nurse explaining another aspect of the plan for his recovery.)
ANNOYING MACHINES: EEP EEP EEP
NURSE: We need to get you walking, OK? As much as possible, right? We can help...
ANNOYING MACHINES: FFSH GASHUNK FFSH GASHUNK

(As Kelly tries to walk all scrunched up in agony, Chronic Pain swings from a sword in his belly. The nurse is in cactuar mode.)
INTERTITLE: ONLY WALK EVER ...
ANNOYING MACHINES: EEP EEEP EEP
NURSE: See ya, wouldn't wanna be ya!
KELLY: Under medicated

(The next morning a doctor tells Kelly one thing while a nurse is suggesting another. Kelly looks even worse than before.)
DOCTOR: I don't imagine you'll be going home for at least a few more days.
NURSE: Ready to go?
ANNOYING MACHINES: GASHUNK FFSH

(Outside the hospital it is raining and Kelly is being kicked through the air by a sneakered foot.)
NURSE FOOT: PUNT

(At home Christopher helps Kelly slowly get up the stairs to the apartment.
Chronic Pain has run ahead to open the door. Kelly says OW with every step.)
CHRISTOPHER: At least you won't have any more gall attacks.
CHRONIC PAIN: Tsh, just one of my games. You'll always have me. Welcome home!
KELLY: OW OW OW
